Being Terminated w/out an logical reason
My husband has his own computer consultant business. While he was working for another company, he was suspended base on a client reciept found. HR called, wanting to know how much his clients were paying him, who is clients were. The info they were asking was none of there business. My husband did this consultant job on his own time. The company didn't get what they was asking, so they fired him. Now my husband is getting unemployment. The company could not give a reason when the unemployment office called, of why my husband was terminated, later they sent a letter in the mail stating that they are going to take my husband to court to stop the unemployment checks from coming. My husband's boss was fired before all this was done and his boss and him got along great, so great that my husband was able to get away with things that no one else, such as letting the our two girls come to work with him. My husband was in his boss back pocket so to speak.
My question is how can a company fire an employee for working a second job, not giving out info that really was none of there business and when ask why he was terminated, they had no answer and now all of a sudden they do have since there is a court date pending? Is this wrong?

To stop your husband's unemployment compensation payments, the company must establish that it had just cause to fire him. To do so, it likely must prove that your husband violated a known, reasonable, uniformly enforced, company policy. Although the company apparently did not provide this information when first contacted about your husband's claim, that does not prevent it from doing so at the appeal hearing.
