Legal Question in Employment Law in Indiana

Wrongful Termination/Hostile Workplace?

I was terminated from my position after being accused of violating confidentiality. To briefly summarize, I was accused of discussing an internal investigation with a manager at Site A. What actually happened was that I was discussing a Site B and a camera I had installed to prevent thefts from their cash office, and we then talked about an employee at Site C. This manager misunderstood and thought that I had installed the camera at Site C to investigate that employee. When I tried to explain that I was not even investigating the employee at Site C, I was given less than two minutes to explain. I was told that I would be contacted after the weekend. My story was never investigated, and I was terminated without being given any further opportunity to speak.

Also, prior to being terminated, I filed a complaint against a co-worker for harassment and violating confidentiality. If this co-worker is not terminated, do I have any type of hostile workplace or discrimination suit? With my termination, do I have a wrongful termination suit if I can prove the allegations false?

If this happened anywhere close in time to your complaint about harassment, you may well have a claim for retaliation. If you would like to discuss further, please feel free to contact me at 317-955-9500.
