Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Indiana
I was forced to swtich jobs which caused me to be a few days late on my rent which is due on the 1st. i informed my land lord of the situation and that id be a little late, with out warning on the 13th i came home to all my stuff and my kids belongings on the curb with the locks changed i then called the police and was informed that this was a civil matter and that he was powerless. is this legal for them to evict you with out warning after only being 10 days late and is there anything that can be done to recover my deposit or compensate me for the items loss because of this. thank you for your time susan

There is a lot to be done here. Self help is not allowed in Indiana. See a local attorney aboutfiling a suit for wrongful eviction among other possible actions that you may have.
