Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Indiana
Lease
I signed a four year lease 4/12/04 with $1000.00 deposit--rent is 675/mo. Reason for incr. dep. and ext lease: 2 cats. I have found a home to buy, my offer has been accepted. Landlady says cannot let me out of lease because she has two other empty houses and cannot afford to let me out right now. I am devastated. What are my options?

Re: Lease
The power of persuasion can be a beautiful thing. You can offer to buy out your lease if you have some money. In other words, give her money to break your lease legally, but make sure you get something from her in writing agreeing to let you out of the lease.
