Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Indiana

Lived in apt. for less than 2 years. Landlord claims I owe for new carpet because of a tear he admitted when I rented was due to an installation problem. It's on the initial checklist when I moved in! Carpet literally has one year warranty and seller/installer says it is not intended for apartments, only display areas. He will submit a statement. Landlord also says I owe him for some security device that got "ruined" outside and is withholding my security deposit and asking for more money on top of that. He took down the security device and has not let me see for myself the "damage". He's got these things listed as the reason he is not returning the security deposit and wants the rest of the cash within 30 days.

List of "damages" came after the 45 day limit allowed in Indiana.

Do I have a snowball's chance to stand up against this?
