Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Indiana

What is the process for eviction in the state of Indiana. I am not behind in my rent. The landlord wants to evict me so she can rent the apartment to a family member. I have never had any problems in the 2 years I have lived here.

The process depends on whether there is a written lease and if so, whether it has been broken. Rent is not the only way a lease can be broken. If there is no written lease, you have what is known as a month to month lease and the landlord can give you 30 days notice to terminate the tenancy. If you do not leave, the landlord can begin eviction proceedings in court by filing a complaint and requiring you to attend a hearing. If the court finds in the landlord's favor, you will be given a defined period of time to leave, otherwise the sheriff will remove you.
