Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Indiana

Hello my name is Tonie Roberts, I moved to an apartment 4 months ago and signed a 1 year lease. The last 4 months have been horrible with neighbors fighting on part of the property and in front on my front door breaking through. I have called the cops and complained to the property manager a dozen times and things only got worse. I paid my rent on 10/05/2016 and informed them that I wanted to leave because I did not feel safe in my own home. They told me that a police officer works for them and I would be put on a "watch list" in hope that it would lessen the amount of activity in my apartment building. On 10/9/2016 the first weekend of being on the "list" my home was broken in to while I was with my mother. Instead of being understand the property manager yelled at me in front of others for my apartment being trashed, though my apartment was just broken into and they stole everything even my groceries. I am being told in order to leave on 10/22/2016 I have to pay November and December's rent and give up my deposit. I want to fight this because I do not believe this is fair. I told them about the door and it is documented on paper that it was broken an needed to be fix and they did not do so. I am willing to for November and give up my deposit because I am breaking the lease I just don't know if I actually have a leg to stand on and what I can do. I am hoping you call tell me if what they are doing is fair and if not can I fight it??

Your landlord must provide a habitable environment for you. Therefore, you may have grounds to rescind and revoke your lease because the landlord had broken the implied conditions. However, you will need documentation of all of the incidents, such as police reports plus copies of the letters that you sent to your landlord to prove that you made a complaint to them.
