Employee Fired -

I am a supervisor and was suspended then fired for not notifying child protective services of a suspicious burn on child.

I don't know of any law that protects your job in this situation, but you did have an obligation to make the report. You did not say whether a co-employee was involved. I would suggest you start out contacting the EEOC office, as well as get applied for unemployment. What you've described is similar to a "whistle-blower" matter, but those types of cases seldom win in the courts when Indiana follows the rule of "employment at will", meaning that you can be discharged for any reason or no reason at the whim of the employer, except in limited instances, but the discharge unless for good cause will not prevent your right to unemployment. You might contact the Legal Services Organization to see if it would be interested in pursuing this matter.
