Legal Question in Legal Ethics in Indiana

Do I need to be sworn in.

I am a reserve officer I went though pre-basic, have a badge, uniform and qualified with my duty weapon.

Do I need to be sworn-in as a reserve officer? I have talked to other reserve officers from other places and they all were sworn-in. I have been told I have the power to arrest once I am cut loose on my own.

Which will be soon so I need to know if it is legal not to be sworn-in.

Re: Do I need to be sworn in.

No. As long as the agency you have your power through has you listed as an active officer, you would not need the necessity of a ceremony where you hold up your hand and swear to do your duty. If you have been issued your badge or whatever verification you need by the agency, that is sufficient to exercise your powers.
