What medical test should be perform before a doctor issues the drug Viagra to a patient and if the patient dies from a massive heart attack what legal recourse can be taken?

If the patient dies as a result of a heart attack after taking viagra, my question wuold not necessarily be what test should have been done, but did the doctor know that the patient had a heart condition? Did the patient know of a heart condition.
