Legal Question in Military Law in Indiana
military officer and bankruptcy
I am currently on active duty with the ANG(enlisted). I was discharged under Chapter 7 three years ago. I have reestabolished my credit with scores of 700+ and I have recently bought a house. The bankruptcy is on my credit reports. Since bankruptcy I have maintained a low debt to income ratio. I want to apply to become an officer. Does bankruptcy disqualify me from being considered for commisioning?

Re: military officer and bankruptcy
Not necessarily.
The issue will be whether you are considered a morally upright person and whether or not you can get and maintain a security clearance.
Bankruptcy by itself is not a reason to deny a clearance. However, the reasons for the bankruptcy and how you've handled finances can be used in a security clearance decision.
