I went to the bathroom in the middle of the night and fell down stairs at a friende house. Can I file a claim against their homeowner's policy?

Only if there was a defect or your friend was otherwise negligent.

There may be coverage for medical expenses, only even of there was no negligence. If you believe that your friend was negligent, contact an attorney. If not, then submit a claim for medical expenses and see whether they will cover it.
