Legal Question in Personal Injury in Indiana
My family were victims of an armed robbery at my apartment while I was at work. Do we due individually or as a grouped tort?

The answer depends on your definition of family. If members of your immediate family, a suit can often be filed for all.
Each of you could sue the robbers for your financial loss, and those actually confronted or touched could also sue for physical and emotional distress.
both atty padove and pinnick are correct. i want to add that there might be liability against the apartment complex for negligent security. if crime is forseeable a buisness, hotel or apartment complex owes a duty to exercise reasonable security measures to protect its customers. our firm actually did one of the early leading cases in indiana which involved the shooting and wrongful death of a security guard at the cline ave holiday inn in hammond which occurred in 1980. good luck.
