in indiana a parent is liable for damages caused by the intentional acts of their child. the limit used to be 3k. i haven't looked at the statute lately but have a vague recollection of that limit maybe being increased to 5k. HOWEVER, you should contact your homeowners insurance company as it may cover the damage. your son did not intend to damage the car as he was throwing the chair at the other child and therefore his act re the car would fall under negligence and your homeowner's ins should cover. ps - your sister needs to get a better focus on life and you should forgive her for suing you.
