Account number
The town I live in is buying our home in a flood buyout program, thay have offered us 67,700 for our home. Today they sent me an email wanting my mortgage acct# so they can access payoff. Why would they need that private info? and should I give it to them?

They need it in order to pay off the mortgage balance. It is up to you as to whether you wish to provide this information. However, without a payoff you wont be able to close.
