Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Indiana

The City is petitioning for tax deed on 2 investmetn properties I own but owe back taxes on, if they get the tax deed will I no longer own or be responsible for the properties and will the city still bill me for the back taxes?

Once the property is sold and ownership transferred to the new buyer, your liability will stop. Until then, you are responsible. At sale, the city will deduct what the purchase price is from the back taxes. Any excess is your responsibility.
