Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Indiana

How to count days

I am a landlord. I recently experienced my first eviction hearing. The judge gave the tennants 60 days to vacate. Does the 60 day time limit begin the day of the hearing, or the following day? At what time on the 60th day does the tennants time end? Thanks.

Re: How to count days

Day one is usually the day after the hearing. Days end at midnight. Your judge was unusually generous with the time for the tenant to move. You have a right to have the court issue a writ (at your cost to be collected later from the tenant) at any time after the hearing within those 60 days. On the 61st day if they have not moved, see the constable of the court for eviction assistance - getting a truck there to move them out. Then amend the complaint for extra damages.
