Open an estate and present the will for probate that says the house is to go to you.

You cannot just place your name on a decedent's deed. Depending on the circumstances, you may need to open an estate or alternatively to file a survivor's affidavit. You would be best advised to consult with a probate attorney and have him/her do the necessary paperwork for you.
