Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Indiana
name taken off deed legally?
I have purchased land with my brother. My parents have co-signed for the loan. They have now told me that they had my name removed from the deed. Is this legal????? How can they have my name taken off of a deed without me signing it over. Also there was an additional 3.6 acres paid for by me solely. The money was given to me by my parents, but the deed is in MY NAME only. My question.. that land is mine, there is nothing they can do right???

Re: name taken off deed legally?
Maybe they committed forgery and should go to jail. If a deed conveyed title to you, in your name, individually or with some other people, then your name cannot be legally removed from title without your signature on a deed. Are you sure you have a deed conveying title to you? Maybe the deed conveyed title to your parents as trustees of a trust where they get to decide what's best for everyone. Sounds like family law to me. A real attorney would need to review all the documents - purchase agreements, deeds, mortgage instruments, title policies, closing statements, etc., to figure out what is really going on.
