Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Indiana
My next door neighbor has been continuously cutting our grass clear up to our patio. We are not 100% sure where the property line is, but part of our house and our entire air conditioner unit are clearly not on their property. Normally, we would not make an issue of it, but we keep our lawn treated at healthy, and he cuts his down on the lowest setting, which makes our lawn look terrible. Also, he removes our gutter spouts each time as well. We have nicely asked him twice to please not cut past our air conditioning unit, (cannot be picky about the property line since we don't know exactly where it is). Each time, he has said that it is no problem, but continues to do it. He even did it once when we were entertaining people in our backyard. What can I do about this? Is there a way to force them to pay half the cost of a surveyer to determine the exact property line? I don't know if that is possible, but thought maybe there was a way since they are the ones that are disregarding the property line. Any suggestions are welcome!

No you cannot force them to pay for half of a survey, even if it benefits them also. I suggest that you have an attorney send him a cease and desist letter. You may be able to go to your local county and look at the plats there to determine the line in a general way.
