Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Indiana
My girlfriend and I broke up 4 and a half months ago. We have an apartment together(both on the lease). She has not lived here the last 4 and a half months, and only been here once, over 3 months ago. She has not picked up any of her belongings even though I have asked over and over again for her to get them. Can I throw them away at this point? Also I can't get her to give the keys back either, and worry about her showing up and taking anything she wants. What are my options?

As for the keys, you should advise your landlord and have the locks changed. As for her possessions, you should write her a letter, and make sure that it's delivered, advising her that you will dispose of her property if she doesn't claim it within 30 days---However, if she has been contributing towards the rent, she has a right to keep her possessions there.
