Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Indiana

GrandFather Clauses

We purchased a multi-family property in the state of Indiana in 2005. Age of the property is 40+. No code violations were noted in the sale. The local building department and electric company now demands that all electric meters be removed to an outside location at my cost or the electric service will be shut off and the city will condem the property. I was told all electrical & plumbing was granfathered. Need competent advice.
