Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Indiana
Home repair problems
I am a single, disabled, female homeowner. Over a year ago (April 2006) I hired a company to fix some problems caused to my home from hail storms. It was never flat out said, but very strongly implied that the total work would be done in about 3 weeks. Here it is now well over a year later, and it is still not complete. I did call the attorney general's office back in Nov 2006 and then the company states that is why they put a stop to my work until we worked something out, but I had already waited many months longer than I was lead to believe it would take. I have already paid them almost $9000. I am thinking they thought they had a single female homeowner that they could easily take advantage of. I am wanting to know if I would have a case to take them to court. I am pretty sure they are going to want the remainder of the money I have gotten from my insurance company, but it has taken so long and the work is still not yet completed. I need help.

Re: Home repair problems
Unless there are other facts that you have not told me, I think you a claim against the roofing company without a doubt. There is an Indiana law that REQUIRES a company of this character to tell you the date of completion (among other things). If you need assistance in analyzing this further, feel free to contact me. Among other things, I would need to know the name of the roofing company so that we could make sure we would not have a conflict of interest in representing you.
