In Indiana, how long can a car sit on private property before it is considered abandoned?

There isn't a hard and fast rule on that. Sometimes it depends on the nature of the property which is abandoned. To be on the safe side, you should send notice to the former owner indicating that you're going to take possession of or dispose of the property before you do anything.
