Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Indiana

landlord damaging property

I am being evicted from my home that I rent. I was told I have until May 1st to have my stuff out. I got to my house to start moving stuff, and realized my landlord had my shed moved. She says she sold it to a friend, and the were coming from out of town to get it and that was the only time they could make it. And now all my stuff I had stored in there is ruined, and some of it missing. What are my right? Can I sue? Does she have to pay for those things? I was storing my things along with a friends, now I am going to owe them for their things. What, if anything can I do?

Re: landlord damaging property

If your landlord damaged or sold your property without just cause, you may sue him for damages-small claims court might be your best bet. Do you owe any money for back rent? If yes, your suit will be met with a counterclaim, including attornet fees.
