Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Indiana
Not married, purchased home together, breaking up.
My boyfriend and I purchased a home together. We have
lived there for about 8 years, I have paid approximately 18,000 into mortgage payments. He wants
me to move out. I don't want to lose what I have
already invested. What are my legal rights?

Re: Not married, purchased home together, breaking up.
You have very limited choices. You most likely will end up filing a petition for partition of the jointly owned real estate. Had you been married you would be filing a petition for dissolution of marriage which would include a division of property rights. Similarly, a petition for partition seeks to divide up property rights in real estate owned by more than one person when the relationship breaks down.
