Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Indiana

Mothers unoccupied home

My Mother is 78 years old(legally blind) and has been living with my sister for over 5 years. They have made no repairs or improvements on my Mothers home during this time. My sister now has decided that she wants to sell the home and property ''as is'' so she can build an addition on to HER home for her teenage daughter. I would like to take the home and fix it back up since my deceased father built it by hand but my sister has total influence over my Mothers decisions regarding the outcome of the home. My Mothers home is in bad need of repair and is not livable at this time. There are three of us (children) and I am the only one that wants to try and repair my Mothers old home. Is there anything I can legally do to stop my sister?

Re: Mothers unoccupied home

You can file for a guardianship to be established over your mother and her estate and petition the court in the guardianship for authority to repair the home or have it sold to you "as is", then the money would have to be used for your mother's benefit and your sister could not use it to build onto her house.
