You have a reasonable period of time. Waht is reasonable? Right now, we are in the middle of winter, so doing so now seems unreasonable. I suggest that spring would be reasonable or the beginning of summer. However, say that not knowing what impact the fence has on the neightbor. For example, if they are having some work done that would be delayed due to the fence or are trying to sell their home, that might change what is reasonable.
