Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Indiana
The property in question involves a single building of 80,000 square feet that occupies four separate parcels of real estate in Indiana. All four parcels were owned by the same person, and all four parcels were delinquent in taxes. however the bulk of taxes were assessed against one parcel, the remaining parcels were assessed as vacant ground. The one parcel that was assessed the bulk of the taxes was sold for delinquencies while the other three were not offered for sale. I bought the one parcel which contained the legal description of the building. After the tax deed was issued to me for the one parcel, the other three parcels were sold by the original owner to another party. I discussed this issue with the county Assessor, he was of very little help. In summary he said that since the buildings description was on my parcel at the time I bought the tax deed, i would have to pay the taxes on this buildings forever or until it is torn down, whichever comes first. In regards to the other three parcels, he said that sale was illegal and that it should never have gotten through his office, but since it did get through his office, he had no idea what could be done to correct it.
I am asking, what laws should I be looking at/for?
