Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Indiana
Purchased a home on July 23, 2013 in Portage, Indiana. The inspection report found issues with plumbing and electric that were defective. The seller's agreed to fix the issues and had a licensed plumber and electrician verify that work was completed correctly. Two days after closing we had to have a plumber come to our new home for plumbing issues that were verified by inspector as defective, however the seller did pay for the cost. However the plumber had to come out three more additional times for the same issues, and we thought after the fourth time we were in the clear, but quickly found out we were wrong. My husband was downstairs in the bathroom yesterday August 26, 2013 and noticed a crack in the ceiling and damp to touch. We have not occurred any cost at this time related to the plumbing issues, however we contacted the seller with no response as of yet. I wanted to know if I have any legal rights and should I seek legal representation?

If the seller makes good on the problem, you have no recourse. If the seller doesn't, you have rights against him for damages and possible recission. But this is best handled by an attorney who needs to review your purchase paperwork and the history of what has transpired.
