Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Indiana

i have a question. I have lived in my apartment for 2 yrs, loved it here.. untill recently. They were bought out by another company who is doing this total remodel. new siding, roofs, painting, repaving.. which is great! The problem being....

there are construction men everywhere! no one tells you when they will be working on your building, the simple how up right outside your window, you could of been sleeping or undressing! we have NO privacy, this is our HOME. they taped up my sliding glass doors for 3 days before they even started to paint, forcing me to use the AC, when it was totally unnessary. i dont feel safe anymore. Have they done background checks on the workers?? they stare at every women and even a 10 yr old girl getting off the school bus. If my 5 yr old is out of site for a second I am having a heart attack. They done tell you when they are going to be working on the car ports or garages, you simply find out by walking out to your car and seeing debri falling all over it. They run power cords into the buildings and down the halls, someone could trip. They leave constuction supplies all over the grounds, children can be hurt.

My point being... I just feel we should all be compensated in some way. am i wrong? I have never rented before.. this cant be normal

You should talk to the landlord about your concerns, but you are not going to get compensation under these facts unless you ARE injured.

If your situation so grievously impairs your ability to decently live in the apartment, then you can claim that you have been constructively evicted and leave. But this may result in litigation. Perhaps you should start with a nice detailed letter to your landlord, describing the problems and danger.
