Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Indiana

Real Estate

The real estate agent we were working with introduced us to a builder and now she wants 2% of the house cost and she hasn't done anything to help with the planning. We don't want her a part of this process anymore but she won't back down. Do we have to sign a contract with her? We already have a contract written up from the builder and want to work solely with him. The builder has offered to pay half of this commission fee which would still leave us with $2000 to pay the agent. I feel the only way out of paying her this amount of money would be to find a different builder, but we would really like to have who she recommended because we have already done all the leg work, and they could start building in the next couple of weeks. Please help! I don't know what to do!

Re: Real Estate

You used her services in finding a builder. She is entitled to some form of payment. However, how much depends on all the circumstances. You need to contact an attorney to discuss those details.
