Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Indiana

Real Estate Law

Hired granite co. to install kitchen counter. Drove to kentucky to tag my granite. Co. installed counter, but forgot to install whole counter. Co came back to install remaing 2 riser pieces, but now new pieces are not a match to exsisting counter. I asked Co. to either match pieces or take $500 off balance. Co. tried to match pieces, but could not and refuse to offer compensation. Co. says there are differences in granite color. I understand, but feel this wouldn't have been problem if counter was installed in entirity as hired to do. Counter area installed first all matches. Co. showed incompetence by not installing counter in it's entiity. Template had been taken. Co. claims since I washed counter with water I darkened it and tried to purposly deceive them. Internet research all say to wash granite with a wet sponge and if counter darkens it is only temporary. Research also says if co. sealed properly counter would not darken. Pieces were not a match from minute they were installed nothing to do with wiping counter. Co. is gong to ask for lean on my house. Cost of counter is 5,000. I owe 1,500. Do I have a resonable Claim? Can I sue for compensation or cost to replace counter since it is not able to be matched?

Re: Real Estate Law

Without an attorney, file in small claims for the $500. With an attorney, you may be able to do better, depedning on all of the circumstances.
