Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Indiana
Real Estate property lines
We purchase 4 lots in a wooded lake community. Our real eastate agent represented the outer boundry line incorrectly of 2 of these lots. We purchase the land over a year ago. The descriptions of the lots were only a lot number without any detail. Our real estate agent told us the land went to the neighboring house's property line. We found out this weekend that there is actually a 1/2 acre lot between our property and the neighboring house making our lots 1/2 of what we thought they were. Our real estate agent denies ever stating this. Do we have any recourse? Do we have any legal ground to pursue this further? Thank you...

Re: Real Estate property lines
You MAY have a number of potential remedies, including a claim on your title insurance policy, a claim for misrepresentation against the realtor and/or prior owner(s), and a claim for negligence against any surveyor. Much will depend on what was said and what appears in the applicable documents. You should consult a lawyer with knowledge of these sorts of issues. My own ability to provide you with legal advice in connection with this matter is conditioned upon our successfully completing a conflict of interest check to make sure that we have not (or do not) represent any of the other interested parties.
