Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Indiana

Real Estate Title ownership

About 25 years ago I became owner of my deceased mothers residence. At the time of her death shehad a live in boyfriend who asked to live in the house, and I agreed. About 2 years later he died and his daughter moved into the house, and somehowshe now has her name added to the title of the property..I'd now like to clear the title and sell the Property. What are the legal steps needed to do this?

Re: Real Estate Title ownership

Does she still live there? If so, for how long? Did you charge her rent? Those may (but probably won't) be relevant considerations.

Another relevant question is: How did she have her name "added to the title"?

The most comprehensive solution to your situation would be a "quiet title" action, which is essentially a lawsuit establishing your title. Following that, or at the same time, you could pursue "ejectment" of her as a (in essence) a tenant.
