Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Indiana

I have a roommate and we live together in an apartment. She wants to terminate the lease because she cannot have her dog there anymore due to too many noise complaints. In order to terminate the lease all lease holders must sign for it and pay an early termination fee of 2600 roughly. That's two months rent and 600 for the first months rent we had waived. I do not want to terminate the lease at all nor do i have the money to pay half that. You can do payments over six months for that fee however i do not want to terminate it. I like living there. Needless to say she is all about terminating it now and she said she is going to sue me and take me to court on half that money for something that i do not want to do. Can she do that?

You'll have to start with your lease to see what it says about this situation. If you do not terminate the lease, you should not be penalized. This sounds however like a situation which should be worked out between you two and the landlord on an amicable basis. It doesn't hurt to talk and it doesn't cost anything either.
