Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Indiana

Sprinkler System Damage during New Construction

Our home contained an existing sprinkler system in Fishers, IN. There was an empty lot to the right of us. Recently, custruction of a new house took place on this empty lot. During the construction process, we were told by our new neighbors that they were told by the construction crew that they ''accidently dug into our in-ground sprinkler system.'' Apparently, our sprinkler system was partially on their ''empty lot'' property. Do we go after the Developer of the Poperty? Or do we hold the actual construction company liable for the repair of sprinker sytem?

Re: Sprinkler System Damage during New Construction

Both the developer and the contractor could be liable. First, raise the matter with the company that is selling you the home, which I presume is the developer. It's possible the contractor did everything according to specifications, but the specifications were wrong.
