Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Indiana

Unwarranted Fair Debt Allegations pertaining to mortgage

My mortgage company was reporting a negative credit history on my morgage after closing fund were recieved. This lasted for almost a year and culminated with a report of FOreclosure to the credit bureaus in July of 2005. ALL after the house closed and a zero balance was reported. Even if this is corrected would I have legal recourse due to a year of credit deniall based on incorrect reporting?

There are many questions to answer before any analysis can be done, but suffice it to say, that you should have "disputed" the item reported to the credit reporting agencies, all 3, and yes, it appears that you would have a claim for slander of credit. The question then is How have you been damaged? Just because you were turned down for credit, may not be compensable damage. You should consult with counsel and find out your options and whether the claim is worth pursuing.
