may i withhold rent?

For the past month i have called my apartment complex to fix things around my house...this has been in vain. No one has responded to my voice mail messages. I have documented each time I called. Yes these repairs are saftey issues. Exposed wireing, broken window screens, broken doorhandles etc. Am I allowed to not pay my rent, ot withhold it until it is fixed?

Withholding rent is risky. Your best course of action is to either sue the landlord to compel the repairs or to simply move out and send a letter complaining about the conditions and failure to make repairs.
