Legal Question in Traffic Law in Indiana

The city police tell me I have to keep my car alarm turned off because it's disturbing the peace. I live close to downtown, and across the street from a hospital with a helicopter and ambulances, and that street is a US highway. My vehicle has had 5 hit and run accidents on it in 2 years. 4 of them were between August '08 and February '09. On the first 3 hit and runs, no one was charged because the police never caught the driver. Then I installed the alarm in October. It's remained unchanged since then. The last 2 wrecks, the alarm sounded and the police caught one vehicle a couple blocks away. The last wreck, I seen the vehicle leaving and I caught them a couple days later. Now, all of a sudden, I have to disable the alarm because it's disturbing the peace? What about the heavy traffic on the highway or the helicopter or ambulances for the hospital? How is my car horn more disturbing than that? It only honks 10 times if I don't push the silent button on the remote. What can I do?

You can contest the citation in court and see whether a judge agrees. On a more practical matter, you might want to consider parking the car elsewhere and possibly avoiding the hit and runs.
