Legal Question in Traffic Law in Indiana

Ticket not filed in circuit court by officer

I am a resident of Washington DC and was issued a speeding ticket in Indiana. I sent in the speeding fine to the circuit court clerk as instructed. After the expiration of the court date, the check was returned to me with this message -

''This ticket has not been turned in to our office for processing by the officer prior to the court date. Any ticket turned in past the court date assigned by the officer - will not be filed in our court. Therefore, we are returning your payment. Sorry for any inconvenience. Perry County Clerk's Office''.

My Question is - does this mean I do not have this ticket anymore on my record since they made it clear that any ticket turned in past the court date assigned will not be filed in their court. OR does this mean that it still goes on my record just that i dont have to pay the fine?

Please let me know. This was the first and the only ticket that i had received in 9 years! Thanks in advance.

This likely means that the ticket will never be put into the system. Just to be sure, check your DMV driving record, any convictions will show up. And if you are the extra-careful type, if you ever change your address, send the change to Perry County so that you get notice of a court date if somehow this ticket does enter the system. This should avoid any Failure to Appear suspensions.
