Legal Question in Traffic Law in Indiana
ticket from 1988
My husband who has a NY CDL received a bill in the mail from Capital Recovery Systems, representing Goshen City Court in the amount of $550.00. We had no idea what this was about, I called the Goshen city court and they claim this was a 20 year old ticket and we had to pay or face suspension. I say we paid the fine 20 years ago but have no record. How can they do this 20 years later?? where is there proof and can anyone just send fines from any state through this collection angency and expect payment?

NO. You should contact both the court and the Dept of Motor Vehicle. It might behoove you to contact a newspaper consumer reporter to help you as well.
Good luck.
