divorced mother dies, father spends estate monies to purchase a house (to provide residence to the minor child), does that residence have to be sold when minor turns of age?

It really is not possible to answer your question. There are too many unknowns here. Strongly suggest you talk to a lawyer in your area. Better: speak to the attorney who did the estate, assuming there was one. It sounds like there was a probate estate opened.
