Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Indiana

My father passed before my steop mother. Since her passing we have not seen either will which we know are "out there" somewhere.

Is there any way we can find a copy?

How do you know it is "out there"? If because you know he talked to a lawyer, call that lawyer. Also, check in the county clerk's office where he died to see if anyone filed a will there (A long shot), or call all the lawyers in his county of residence and see if there is one. There is no cnetral database where everyone who has a wiill has to keep it. Did you ask your stepmother about it before she died?

If your father has been dead too long, then finding the will may be of no value to you, as there is a time limit within which you must probate a will.

I gather you have more concerns than just where the will is, and should probably contact a lawyer to discusss those specific questions about asset disposition, etc. I would be glad to meet with you, though it may be more convenient to consult with someone in your area.

Good luck.
