Grandchilds rights to a will
I just recently lost my grandmother. As a child my grandparents became my legal guardians. I was raised as their child. My parents never paid and child support. I would like to know do I have any claims against the estate. How do I find out if there is a will. They have two adopted daughters. I am the child of one. But I was always raised like there own. What are my rights

Re: Grandchilds rights to a will
If your grandfather is still alive, then probably the bulk of your grandmother's estate would go to him as most of the property is probably jointly owned. If your grandfather predeceased your grandmother, and if she has a will, then whatever the will provides for dictates who gets what. If your grandmother did not have a will, then state statute dictates who gets what. In all likelihood, the two daughters would get it all, unless they predeceased their mother (your grandmother)and then any children they had would inherit their share.
Without more information, it is hard to give you any more specific answers. As far as finding out whether your grandmother had a will, about the only thing you can do is ask your mother or her sister, a close friend of your grandmother's that might know, or the attorney where your grandmother sought legal advice from. There is no guarantee that any of these leads will provide any information. Good luck.
