Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Indiana
My husband's grandparents passed away. In their trust they left farm land to the 6 kids (my husband is standing in place of his deceased mother). The trust says all 6 kids have an equal share of this land but it cannot be sold as individual pieces meaning it has to all be sold at once and all 6 kids agreeing on when that is. My question is, is there a way for my husband to make the rest of the kids buy his share out? The family is all very stubborn and will never all agree to sell at the same time. Is there anything we can do?

You will have to take the trust to an attorney to read it, but there is probably NOT a way to make the other kids buy him out. There is a way to sell the force a sale of the whole thing on the open market called partition. The threat of that may prompt the others to chip in to keep it in the family. Go see a lawyer in your community about this possibility.
