Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Indiana

I was the product of an affair. My father passed away this past January. He was still married to his wife but I knew and saw him all my life. None of his family knows I exist. My mother recently hit some financial hardships and I wish I could help her. If I was left anything in a will would I have been contacted by now? Or if it refers to splitting his assets amongst his children, am I entitled? His name is on my birth certificate. Any info is much appreciated.

If you are his child, you are one of his "children", legitimate or not. I would doubt that you were listed specifically in a will, but you can contact the county clerk where he dies and see if a will was admitted for probate nor an estate opened. There are other ways in which assets can pass without probate, but if the family doesn't know you exist, they would have no way to know you should have been included. I would advise you seek counsel before contacting them at this point.
