right to property

My biological father passed recently with no will. He told his nephew to find me and that I was to have his possessions. He was not married and had no other children. He has a truck and fifth wheel with ''open'' titles. How do I go about claiming anything that was his. I need to do this quickly before the other members finish ''stealing'' his things.

You need to take the titles to the licensed vehicles to the Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles and apply for a transfer of title. The BMV has its own forms. You should also prepare a survivor affidavit: see http://www.in.gov/legislative/ic/code/title29/ar1/ch8.html. I assume the estate assets are worth less than $50,000, so you will not need to open an estate. If the net assets exceed that amount, you will need to open an estate.
