Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Indiana

I received a check from the V.A. to help pay for my father's death expenses. prior to receiving the check I paid for the expenses with my personal credit card, afterwards my father's lawyer (power of attorney) paid off the credit card with funds from his estate. she is now saying that I have to turn the check over to her. is this true?
