My father recently passed away, and my sister and I are looking for his will, wondering if it might be filed with the state have already checked for safe deposit boxes and havent found any

Check with the county recorder or county clerk in the county he lived in at his death, or the county he lived in when he made the will. Some states allow wills to be filed in the vault, some don't
